On May 1st 06 The Washington Times published a piece by Patrice Hill entitled HOW IMMIGRANTS MAKE THE ECONOMY GROW which was caught by the "FREEPERS" and roasted. The gist of the article indicates where the Bush Administration is comming from and why its supporting amnesty and probably why its been slow going shutting down the borders.

Economists like Alan Greenspan, and the new chair of the Fed Ben Bernanke, who comes off as an eliteist in the article strongly support amnesty as well as Andrew Sum, of the Northeastern University Center for Labor Studies, Andrew Faucher analyst with Economy.com, and Robert Paral, American Immigration Law Foundation, among probably several others not mentioned in the article. All view immigration as essential to keep the economy going.Which most Americans would agree with

What they are looking at is the slow birth rate and the replacements needed to keep the ponzie scheme known as Social Security and Medicare going. It should be no secret about the timing of the warning that Social Security and Medicare will be going broke while the "illegals" were doing their thing. Don't forget too Bush did lead off his 2nd term with warning social scurity is going broke and offered a modest personal plan but got nowhere.

In refering to the American labor force most of them however were disparaging sounding as if if they have any offspring they're very les enfance de france spolied and unable to scrub a floor, clean a toilet bowl, or pick lettuce . Stuff that sons and daughters of legal immigrants were doing as well as a great many other things during World WarII which we won until our educational system thought kids had too much "free time".

Citing the work illegals were taking away from 19,000,000 Americans was Steve Camarota of the Center for Immigration studies, and Harry Holzer of the Urban Institute who complained that illegals crowded out the labor market for semi skilled jobs because of wages being accepted being accepted by illegal aliens. This was a difficult piece to write and Patrice Hill captured both sides of the question so don't shoot the messenger. Lets hope that commedians like Jay Leno,or "whoszits" at CBS pick on the fodder picked up by Hill and surprizingly printed by The Washington Times.

2004 US MEXICO AGREEMENT LETS ILLEGALS DRAW SOCIAL SECURITY

A little known agreement known as "totalization" between the Bush administration and the Mexican government which took three plus years to surface after using the Freedom of Information act would allow illegal Mexicans to draw billions from the Social Security Trust fund. The pact worked out between the two countries bypasses congress which would have only 60 days by either house to dissapprove after the agreement not yet approved by Bush was signed and implemented into law.

The group of Seniors known as TREA Senior Citizens League a two million member organization had campaigned for nearly 4 years using the Freedom of Information Act after they became aware of the agreement being hammered out.
     An American citizen to collect social security must have a minimum of 40 quarters in the system. This agreement would allow an "unpapered emigree" to qualify collecting social security with just 6 quarters when in the system, or be employed only a year and a half.

Applauding the group and its efforts was Republican congressman Walter Jones of North Carolina who was quoted in PR News Wire.Com stating "I applaud the persistant efforts of TREA Senior Citizens League to try to get documents from the U.S. Government about the US-Mexico Social Security Totalization Agreement. The American People are finally begining to get some of the information regarding this agreement that they have been seeking for so long"

The League contends that within 10 years the social security trust fund will be paying out more than its taking in and by 2040 the funds will be exhausted. In a 12/20/06 article published in the Des Moines Register written by Jennifer Jacobs staff writer. Jacobs reports on a harbinger of things in the US 2007 legislative calendar to come. The Immigration Issue
    Iowa's Governor Thomas Vilsack, and the "top officer" of the Iowa National Guard Maj Gen Ron Tardis, blasted the raid on the Swift packing plant located in Marshalltown as "completely unacceptable".
     Their complaint concluded with a threat not to cooperate with the feds (I.C.E.) on any future raids unless fully advised about any raid to take place. The raid arrested 1282 illegal immigrants in 5 Swift & Co packing plants located in the midwest and was executed by the immigration enforcement arm of DHS known as ICE or immigration and customs enforcement.
     The basis for the complaint apparently was the lack of notice given to state authorities ( chiefly the IA N.G.) for these illegals to be detained at the Iowa National Guard training center known as Camp Dodge. In which ICE within its authority acted apparently alone without notifying state and localities.
    Vilsack, well into his second term as Iowa Governor, who during his tenure has never acted to discourage illegal immigration which is in the states perview to enforce, had considered entering into the 08 Democratic presidential race. Vilsack, along with the very liberal Iowa Senator Harkin, are both known to favor amnesty and full citizenship with voting privledges for illegals chiefly Mexican illegally employed by Swift and Company.
    The raids on packing plants beside netting 1200+ "unpapered emigrees" also found 144 who were charged with criminal violations, and 143 using identity theft. After the arrests were announced union and other sources announced that many of the vacancies were being filled by unemployed American citizens and Iowa residents which seems to disolve the argument that "Americans won't take those jobs". No announcement was made about the disciplining of Swift officials.
     Whether the action by the agency known as ICE increases depends upon if the House Republican conservatives and "Blue Dog" Democrats can work together closing the border and addresses this thorny issue.

Andre Obrador, the former mayor of Mexico city may not follow in hurricane John's weathery blast and dissapate but instead create rain and storms on Calderone's parade. There are rapid developments occuring on our southern border within Mexico that can have very immediate effects much closer to home.

Massive demonstrations Mexico's labor unrest are taking place by supporters of the apparant looser in Mexico's Presidential election held July 2nd. For example the Christian Science Monitor reports that the governors palace in Oaxaca had all its windows broken and there are serious protests going on now. Part of the problem their report claims seems to be the reelection of a PRI state governor, Ruiz, rather than strong support for Obrador. That same report also claims that there is but a half of a percentage point difference between the candidates (earlier Forbes Publications reported a 1 percentage point difference) of PAN Mexican presidential candidate "Conservative" Felipe Calderon and PDR candidate "Communist" Andre Obrador. This is an election too close to call

Andres Lopez-Obrador now is claiming election fraud and wants a complete recount.

The San Antonio News reports that the American Embassy in Mexico city has warned American citizens to stay away from any protest. It is also against Mexican law for any "non citizen" to participate in any protest which is not taken very lightly by Mexicans who can take their politics very seriously and offenders may wind up a "infractor habitual en carcel"

With protests are going on in Mexico but being unreported by Main Stream Media pressure on the US-Mexican border will probably increase worse than it is now when either gets declared the winner.
   With such a tight election where a reported 38 million voted, Obrador supporters were already rioting in states like Oaxaca and several other regions including Mexico City which were sketchily reported by MSM and would probably expand to general strife if the PAN candidate Calderon is declared the winner.

Calderon (the unofficial winner) has already offered Obrador a seat at the governmental table. But Obrador, the Mexico City mayor known for his confrontational style and aware of support may decide to keep his supporters on a long leash with those "dis", "un", and "approved", "organized protests" aimed at gaining leverage for political positions which may get out of control.

Mexico may be a good place to stay away from until things settle down when on September 6th their electorial commission annouce an official winnner or perhaps stay away even longer. About those Judges Request AP Report on Mexican election judges

If Lopez-Obrador gets declared winner watch for the MSM to soft pedal his Communist connection,with terms like "Populist", Liberal, and even "leftest" . According to WND the outgoing Mexican President Vincente Fox stated, Bush had confided in him that the "Amnesty" issue is "dead" for the time being and would not be taken up until after the US November election. It is hoped the members of the House can get the Senate to move on border control but hold off on anything else until the winner of the Mexican Presidential election is clear.

The push by President Bush for a "solution" to the illegal immigration problem including Amnesty which aint amnesty. Its a "Jimson Weed" by another name. Why this administration insists on a north of the border solution when the problem begins and ends with Mexico is a puzzlement. This would be a perfect time to redress treatment of Americans in Mexico as well as giving Mexico a boot to improve conditions for their people.But even more dissapointing is any mention by leading Democrats as to the root cause conditions in Mexico instead the focus is on "the latino vote".

Mr. Bush's concern may have more to do with Mexican politics than with the internal situation here in the US. Bush first approached the House of Representatives with the proposal to "stop the leaks and fix the border" rather than "go for broke" and Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert along with David Sensenbrenner doggedly plugged away only to be rewarded by geting "sandbagged" by Bush including Hastert being "misreported" by ABC as "being investigated" by the Justice Dept.

The Bush administration may be fearing the outcome of the July 6th Mexican presidential election where a communist could take reigns over its presidency. Even if that happens the reformed communist party known as PDR, candidate who is Mayor of Mexico City, Lopez-Obrador, has little chance of getting any reform legislation past. After listening to Senator (D CA) Barbara Boxer on Bob Schieffer's hosted (CBS) Sundays 5/21/06 "Face The Nation" defence of amnesty and runing down of Americans who dont want jobs my first thought was "How much are they giving you lady ? The same goes for Republicans, Hagel, of Nebraska, and Graham, of South Carolina. What was interesting to watch was a week later when two Republicans Sen Hagle and Cong Sensenbrenner discussed the pros and cons of amnesty in the same format.

Hagle (who's state employs 6600 in meat packing) betrayed an imperious (how dare you question me?) characteristic particularly when the subject turned to amnesty.

While the expected support by too many members of the US Senate of both partys but almost all are Democrats who if one follows the money hide under the guise of Political Correctness and will reitierate charges of discrimination and or bring up US lazy "norte Americanos" who don't want to work.

There is a deafing silence from Unions who should be fighting for their membership and black leadership who should be fighting for jobs "the brothers" could be doing.

and Our Anthem which aint

Much has been made about the "Nuestros Himno"(our hymn) Spanish translation of the most difficult songs to give a decent recitation of among the worlds national anthems.

OUR STAR SPANGLED BANNER
According to records there is another Spanish rendition as well as a German version.

The Star Spangled Banner only became our national anthem in the 1930's when the old Brit drinking song "To Anacreon in heaven" melody was officially adapted as the melody to accompany Francis Scott Key's poem about a victory in the war of 1812.
    Prior to WWI the Germans, The English, and the Americans, all had the same melody, and similar lyrics for the Germans and English to their national anthems and it was "God Save The King", but known in the US as "My Country Tis Of Thee", which was used as the US "unofficial" national anthem.

Nuestros Himno (Our Hymn (Anthem) seems to be a respectful but poor translation of Key's poem, and while it may convey some of the feeling it is strident in concept while Scott Key's poem is reflective. The idea that there be two national "anthems" one for one group of people and another for another group is devisive furthuring a divided people thats not this countrys goal. President Bush is right any translation of Scott's poem is difficult enough particularly to do it to the meter of the music. This one doesn't stand up to the meaning of what the poet,Scott Key, has expressed and what this nation decided in song is its determination. There should be only one national anthem not two and it should only be sung in English.

NBC Channel 5 KPHO of Phoenix Arizona offered a brief study of the cost to Arizonans of illegal immigration as the incusions increased by Mexicans believing because of the disasterous policy of "1986 amnesty" and "birthright citizenship" which a Canadian of Chinese ancestry was successful in having that country's law trashed. Our unregulated border is also allowing entry of contagious diseases ! The recent outbreak of the 2000 plus cases so far reported of Mumps had been attributed to two airline passengers by AP and first reported by CNN then "killed" CNN.
    CNN first reported the story the disease was contracted in England by one of the passengers then in another version this was reported. (request 2006/HEALTH/conditions/04/12mumps.outbreak.ap") In which one of the passengers after a recent visit to the Dominican Republic apparently contracted this highly infectious disease.

After tracking media reports which does not offer a breakdown of individuals age, sex, and race there does not appear to be a connection and the epidemic has subsided. With the Mexican political situation as it is GWB had little chance with the Cancun "NAFTA summit". Here Vincente Fox-Quensada who's having problems governing that state should have been redressed and told. "Look you wanted that job (President of Mexico) now do it right". While the hue and cry is who is to pay for this "mass deportation" ? Who caused it ? And that is who pays for any when and if any deportations ever take place. No longer should there be a drop a quarter to INS and have those workers picked up and deported without their pay check. If the illegal presented phoney credentials the cost of their processing gets charged to the Mexican government. NAFTA is a treaty that must be fully reviewed, internationals (global corporations) are taking advantage of it first by moving their factories out of the US, on to Mexico, then out the NAFTA door while millions are losing their jobs in the NAFTA trade area.

The internationals are getting the benefits of this trade group,which should be set up to protect small to medium sized industries operating within the trade group. We can no longer tolerate this bleeding of the Canadian,US,and Mexican,labor force.

Every time a tarrif or trade restriction goes before the WTC the rulling is against the American or NAFTA product.

A case in point was the forgotten effort by President G.W.Bush to save US Steel based in Pittsburg PA. After pleading with the WTC to change steel tarrifs Bush errected our own tarrifs against foreign competition to save our steel industry. The result was the European Economic group created tarrifs against our agricultural products and it was a standoff for a year with AG tarrifs costing American farmers billions in lost revenues causing Bush to recind the steel tarrifs. Recently Governor Doyle (D WI) complained about the dumping of Japanese motorcycles in the US,causing unfair competition to the famous Harley-Davidson motorcycles manufactured in Milwaukee.

When the the international trade courts refused to review trade preferences for another Wisconsin based outboard engine manufacturer Evinrude, Its parent BRP has announced they will be building a plant in China while reassuring its Wisconsin employees (2 plants Fond-du-lac and Sturdevant) they will not be affected (yea right!).

If NAFTA is to have any teeth as a trade incentive foreign competition to it using these predatory practices should be banned from the NAFTA market

And incentives given to new developments and products which are proprietary, manufactured in this trade group rigorously protected.

Citizen's Rights both American, and Mexican must be considered.

Mexico was given a pass the first time around where these treaties got reviewed. Problems both countries must address should include Mexican rights to organize unions,and if NAFTA is to work stop the out sourcing, moving factories to China.

Mexico's President Fox has been insisting full rights social services health care, schools, etc to migrant (meaning the illegals) workers.

Its time to remind the Mexican government that this is a two way street. Mexico should be taking better care of its citizens,and that there are problems created by their government regulations with regard to US citizens. Presently their (Mexico's) issuing an unverifiable ID card to those who ask and with good reason Americans have been saying thats not good enough.Who is to pay for a verifiable card ?

Then the questions of American citizen rights in Mexico. Norte Americanos rights to own property in Mexico. Presently ocean front ownership is forbidden and byzantine restrictions are faced by any American who does own property. The right to travel unrestricted within Mexico by US citizens in their own vehicle without paying outrageous insurance rates or having their vehicle confiscated for a minor accident. Or winding up in the calaboose or some trumped up charge.

These are just some of the issues President Bush still must bring to the table in reviewing Mexican American relations.

When Dubai Ports World announced its decision to "sell off " its interests in the British holdings of P&O American seaport terminal facilities its announcement was greeted by Bush supporters with a great big ..Whew !! As if a great weight was lifted.

Now its been followed by dire warnings on MSM (main stream media) that this action will deter foreign investment by those who are on the receiving end of our dollars due to the imbalance of trade. Where was that MSM position when this was first announced ? And because of that position we (US) can't hold any service, facility, or product manufacture sacroscant from foreign control ? President Bush should call for a review of all seaport operations not just UAE's interests.

For the Secretary of The Treasury's committee to allow this to come out the way it did President Bush was ill served. His appointed Secretary of Treasury John Snow should be fired. If Snow ran this forthrightly past the guardian of the gate and OK'd, somebody goes.

But there is a tendency in almost every administration to over filter and minimize political or soci-economic implications when there are fixed viewpoints being presented. For example there are more "talking points" in this page which were offered during coverage in the 04 campaign to charges never responded to which cost Bush points. Its been reliably reported there has been but one rejection in the over 1500 cases they reviewed so one wonders why this OK is "news" or is somebody "Jivein" US ?

Their decisions and congressional reaction that not only the White House but Congress isn't aware of what is being decided strongly suggest a complete review of who these people are, what interest they may have if any, and all their decisions to get the twice over.

DPW is Dubai Ports World (owned by The United Arab Emirates a group of Arab tribal principalities and not a publicly owned corporation) which purchased British run, publicly owned, Peninsula Oriental Steam Navigation port operations known as P&O for a handfull and one and a half fingers of billions (6.5). DPW currently uses facilities it purchased from CSX at Baltimore. (P&O) currently runs those formentioned port operations but unlike other some of the other foreign operators running US ports such as China's COSCO. DPW does not run its own ships .

The background on Snow of The US Treasury is that shortly after he left to join the Bush administration the firm he headed and left was the rail group CSX. After Snow left, CSX international seaport terminals (one in Baltimore) were sold to DPW for a measly one index finger billion (1.15). Snow's official bio mentions his background in CSX but doesn't state what happened to the company within a year after he left.
     When one such as John Snow or for that matter Dick Cheney join the fed all their assets are put into trust or frozen they do not have a voice into its operations therefore the powers that be may have felt, the new CEO of CFX decision to sell to DPW was not Snows thus did not merit a mention.

But the point is with these globals buying in and out when its concerns an American vital interest the decision making should not rest alone with the Department of The Treasury.

As far as running of our ports are concerned almost all of them are operated by foreign interests.

A Chinese firm; China Ocean Shipping Company (COSCO publicly traded accused of being associated with the Chinese military) during the Clinton presidency negotiated and secured, after a hassle with the US about limiting cargo inspection rights,a major container operation leasing the former US naval base at Long Beach California. A situation which hasn't changed Congress container insp report.

Today 45% of Chinese imports go through Long Beach . A container was seized from a COSCO ship loaded with AK 47s and other small arms destined for US street gangs. Cosco 2000 machine guns COSCO also owns 10% of the Panama Canal operation.

Ideally neither should be there. Does the cargo contain what the manifest says it does, can this be verified,if not can the origin be traced, and who keeps those records are items that should be reviewed.But all those foreign leases should be reviewed
